Welcome to Prince of Peace Faith Formation Program

Prince of Peace is happy to offer an innovative and hands-on children’s faith formation program for children from 5 to 17.

This year’s K-5 Faith Formation program will be a little different from last year. Rather than meeting every Wednesday, the younger students in our program will meet on the first Wednesday of the month and one additional Sunday a month. During the Wednesday classes, parents will attend a special session which will correspond to what their children are learning and will equip them to play an instrumental role in their child’s faith formation.

Wednesday classes will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and will conclude at 7:15 p.m.

In most cases, Sunday classes will take place on the third Sunday of the month. March and April are the two exceptions due to Spring Break and Easter. On those months, class will meet on the 4th Sunday of the month. Sunday classes will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m., at which time we will all go together to the 12:00 p.m. Mass

Please note that faith formation for 6th grade and over has not changed, and will continue meeting on a weekly basis on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:15 p.m.

Catechesis is a responsibility of the entire Christian community. This is should not be the work of catechists and priests alone, but of the whole community of the faithful. The Christian community follows the development of catechetical processes, for children, young people and adults, as a duty that involves and binds it directly. (GDC 220) A fully Christian community can exist only when a systematic catechesis of all its members takes place and when an effective and well developed catechesis of adults is regarded as the central task of the catechetical enterprise.” (ACCC, no. 25).
