Music at Prince of Peace
2009 - 2010 Season
Throughout the centuries, the church has been a
center for music and the arts. It is through the
arts that humankind has communicated some of its
greatest thought and expressions. Through it, we are
given the opportunity to reflect the very nature of
God, and the presence of the Divine Being within all
life, with the gifts and talents God has given us.
It is the purpose of
Music at Prince of Peace
to present, as an outreach through the church and
into the community, a series designed to enrich,
edify and spiritually uplift. In this way, we have
the privilege to educate, express and share the gift
of God's love, through music.
MARCH
Sunday, the 21st
- 4:00 p.m.
REQUIEM
By Mark Winchester
This ancient and liturgical Latin text has been set
to music
by many composers, from the Middle Ages to the
present.
Its text is from the Mass for the Dead. This
performance
with chorus, will be the world premiere of this
opus.
APRIL
Sunday, the 25h
- 4:00 p.m.
Solemn Service of JESUS, THE HIGH PRIEST
The Pope Benedict XVI decree of a special jubilee
year,
proclaimed as the
Year of the Priest,
is celebrated with
readings from Scripture, and with musical selections
offered by the Organ and Cantorum Sacrum of Prince
of
Peace Church. Reception follows.
The Prince of Peace Organ

The Prince of Peace
pipe organ was finally completed and ready for
Easter Services in 2003. Monsignor Bumpus donated
the original pipe organ shortly after his arrival in
1998, when he facilitated and supervised its
installation. During the summer of 2002, Monsignor
Bumpus visualized a larger organ with a more
aesthetic casing that would beautify the rear of the
church sanctuary. He traveled up and down the east
coast of the United States purchasing parts and
began a renovation. The final renovation placed two
new wind chests on the back wall of the church,
which is encased by the faade pipes seen in the
above picture. The three manual organ boasts 56
stops of musical power.
