World Day of Prayer

Since the 19th century, Christian women in the US and Canada have initiated cooperative activities in many areas of concern for women and children, the role of prayer in mission work and the promotion of world peace through involvement in mission work worldwide. The first organized “day of prayer for the world” held nationally was in Canada in Jan. of 1920 and the US followed in Feb. of 1920.

Today, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children from around the world gather collectively to worship on the first Friday in March. This year, the women from the Bahamas have prepared a worship service and we will be praying for the women of their country. The theme this year is: Jesus said, “Do you understand what I have done for you?”

We invite you to join us this year on Friday, March 6th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 702 Valley Forge Blvd. in Sun City Center. The morning will begin with light refreshments in the Conesa Center at 10 A.M. and the prayer service will begin promptly at 11 A.M.

World Day of Prayer USA promotes justice and equality for women through prayer, partnerships, service and celebration. Won’t you please set aside some time that morning to join us in prayer and fellowship?
